BROWNWOOD, Texas - Howard Payne's late rally was not enough as Southwestern's Ross Loewe  hit two home runs and six RBI to hold off the HPU rally. Yellow Jackets fall 17-15 in a four hour scoring fest in Brownwood at Don Shepard Park.

Southwestern jumped out to an 8-0 lead after five innings of work. Howard Payne got on board with two runs in the sixth inning, matching two more Pirate six inning runs for a 10-2 gap. Six runs in seventh inning put the Yellow Jackets back in reach but still trailed 17-8 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.

Seven HPU runs in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Southwestern a scare, but the Yellow Jacket's rally was stunted as SU came away with the win to improve to 6-6 on the season.

Howard Payne's Josh Holmes got the loss in the game.

Southwestern's Willis earned the win, while Gerald Weaver was credited with the save.
