HPU Taken In Three By McMurry

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team held early leads in all three games versus visiting McMurry University but fell 0-3 (22-30,22-30,26-30) in the end Wednesday night in the Brownwood Coliseum.

Howard Payne falls to 5-12 overall and 1-9 in the ASC, while McMurry improves to 12-3 overall and 7-3 in ASC action. The difference in the match was HPU's 28 hitting errors on the night.

Despite holding early leads in all three games of the match the Lady Jackets were unable to hold on.

Freshman Megan Pick played strong for HPU with 10 kills on 29 attempts, a .207 hitting pct., and 13 digs. Setter Patricia Brown had 26 assists and 6 digs. Melissa Dennis had a match-high 19 digs in the match.

McMurry was led by Erica English's 8 kills, Shannon Higgins' 16 assists, and Sarah Anding's 13 digs. McMurry had a .167 hitting pct. as a team on the night.

HPU will play again on Saturday as they travel to Abilene to take on Hardin-Simmons.
