Jackets Get 1-0 Victory Over Concordia

AUSTIN, Texas - The Howard Payne men's soccer team used solid team defense to record a 1-0 victory over Concordia Thursday night in American Southwest Conference action.

The Yellow Jacket defense only allowed 3 Concordia shots on goal on the night.

The Jackets scored the only goal in the match in the 25th minute when Brandon Hopper got a pass from Dennis Benitez and put a shot past the Concordia goalkeeper.

HPU out shot Concordia 17 to 14 overall and 12 to 3 in shot on goal. Several Jackets got in on offensive attempts as 8 different players took shots on goal.

Malcolm Framjee played all 90 minutes for HPU recording 3 saves.

Concordia outdo HPU in corner kicks taking seven to HPU's four.

Howard Payne improved to 2-6-1 overall, while Concordia fell to 2-9 on the season.

The Jackets will travel to Tyler on Saturday to play the University of Texas - Tyler in an ASC match.
