ABILENE, Texas - Howard Payne's late rally was not enough as the Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team won with a 30-24, 30-18, 26-30, 33-31 win in American Southwest Conference action, Saturday at the Mabee Complex.
The HSU won the first two games, before Howard Payne battled back to win the third game. HPU led 28-26 in the fourth game, before HSU rallied to close out the match.
Megan Pick had 16 kills with a .308 attack pct. and 15 digs, while Melissa Dennis had 30 digs to pace HPU. Katie Preuss added 10 kills, a .308 attack pct, and 3 blocks. HPU setter Trish
Cambra led the attack for HSU with 18 kills. Chelesea Buetow and Amanda Mace had 15 and 12 kills respectively.
Howard Payne fell to 5-13 overall and 1-10 in league play. HSU is now 14-4 on the year and 11-0 in ASC play.
Howard Payne will play again at home on Tuesday versus Texas Lutheran University.
