TLU Bites HPU For The Second TIme This Season

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne volleyball team fell in four games to visiting Texas Lutheran in American Southwest Conference action Tuesday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.

Howard Payne was defeated by Texas Lutheran 30-22, 30-23, 26-30, 30-26.

Howard Payne fell to 5-14 overall and to 1-11 in the ASC. TLU improved their record to 12-5 overall and to 9-2 in the American Southwest Conference.

After dropping the first two games to TLU, the Lady Jackets took game three 30-26. TLU jumped out to an early lead in game four and HPU's push in the end was not enough giving the Lady Bulldogs the victory.

TLU was lead by Jamie Jahns' 13 kills on 31 attempts and a .323 hitting pct.. Setter Melissa Mudge had 44 assists in the match.

Megan Pick and Katie Preuss led HPU with 14 kills apiece. Pick had 17 digs while Preuss had a .414 attack pct.. Jessica Hutton and Melissa Dennis had 17 digs apiece. Setter Patricia Brown had a match-high 45 assists.

The Lady Jackets will play the weekend on the road at the American Southwest Crossover #2 at Schreiner University.
