CLINTON, Miss – Two Howard Payne Yellow Jacket turnovers led to a Mississippi College 31-10 victory in American Southwest Conference action at Robinson-Hale Field.
The Jackets got on the board first when Jordan Bullard hit a 42 yard field goal with 11:14 to play in the first quarter. The field goal capped an 8 play 43 yard drive.
Mississippi College scored next on a 27-yard TD run by Barker with 3:31 remaining in the 1st quarter. 3-7 MC
Howard Payne answered back less than 3 minutes later when Jason Lovvorn found Zach Howard for a 44-yard TD. 10-7 HPU Lovvorn finished with 266 yards passing, 1 TD, 2 INT, 24 of 52 passing.
MC scored on their next offensive play when Shaffer found Allen for a 69-yard TD strike. 10-14 MC
The Choctaws scored again at the end of the first half on a 40-yard Kruze field goal. 10-17 MC at the half.
MC got the only score in the 3rd with 2:53 left on an 11-yard Allen TD reception. 10-24 MC
Mississippi College added another TD on a 50-yard pass from Shaffer to Allen with 9:40 to play in the game. 10-31 MC. QB Adam Shaffer finished with 380 yards passing, 3 TD's, and 1 INT on 26 of 42 passing.
Jordan Beard and Zach Howard lead Howard Payne with 77 and 73 respectively.
Howard had HPU's only TD in the game.
The Jackets will close out their season at home next week taking on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
