BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne baseball team put 8 runs on the board but fell to visiting Texas Lutheran University 15-8 at Don Shepard Park in American Southwest Conference action.

TLU, ranked 12th in the NCAA Division III, moved to 21-4-1 overall and to 8-1 in the American Southwest Conference West Division.

Howard Payne fell to 10-14 overall and to 4-6 in the ASC West.

Senior Justin Davies took the loss for HPU. Davies dropped to 4-2 on the season. HPU used 5 pitchers in the game.

Daniel Besa picked up the pitching win for TLU. Besa improved to 5-0 on the season.

HPU's Blake Shaffer was 4 of 5 with 2 RBI.

HPU and TLU play a doubleheader Monday in Brownwood. Game one is set for a noon start.
