Davies Pitches Great But Jackets Fall

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Despite a great pitching performance by HPU's Justin Daives a late inning homerun by McMurry defeated the Yellow Jackets 7-6 at Don Shepard Park .

McMurry scored the first two runs of the game, but the Yellow Jackets bounced back to score the next four runs.

However, McMurry scored two runs in the top of the seventh to knot the game and RBI singled in the eighth gave McMurry the lead.

Howard Payne retook the lead in the bottom of the 8th after loading the bases. HPU scored on a hit batter and a wild pitch.

In the top of the nineth McM score on a pinch-hit sole homerun and added another run to take the lead for good.

The two teams will square off for a doubleheader Saturday at Don Shepard Park.
