Both Men and Women Fall to TLU

SEGUIN, Texas - The Howard men's and women's soccer teams took on American Southwest Conference opponent Texas Lutheran University on Friday and fell 0-10 in the women's game and 0-1 in OT on the men's side.

 

Howard Payne fell to 0-3 overall and to 0-2 in the ASC. TLU improved to 5-2 overall and to 3-1 in the American Southwest Conference.

 

TLU's Layden scored 78 seconds into the match with a feed from Becca Harrell. That was the first of many for the Lady Bulldogs as TLU out-shot HPU 28-1.

HPU's Nicole Pena recorded 10 saves in the match and played all 90 minutes.


In the men's game, TLU's Silas Blackwell converted a penalty kick in the first overtime to lift the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 1-0 win over Howard Payne.

 

 

Blackwell beat Howard Payne keeper Malcolm Framjee with a shot into the right corner of the net.

 

Howard Payne fell to 1-4 overall and to 0-2 in the ASC. TLU improved to 2-3-1 overall and to 2-1 in the American Southwest Conference.

 

The TLU had 22 total shots and eight shots on goal compared to seven shots and five shots on goal for HPU.

 

 

Malcolm Framjee made seven saves for the Yellow Jackets.

Both Yellow Jacket teams will take on Schreiner University in Kerrville tommorrow in American Southwest Conference action.
