HPU Falls To ETBU In OT

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets went to overtime for the third time this season and fell to visiting East Texas Baptist 1-2 Saturday at Citizens National Bank Soccer Field.

Howard Payne is 0-3 in overtime matches so far this season. HPU falls to 1-7-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the ASC, while ETBU improves to 5-3-1 overall and 4-1-0 in ASC play.

The Jackets got on the board first when Wilfredo Larios scored an unassisted goal in the 18th minute.

ETBU was able to sneak one goal in before the half in the 42nd minute on an unassisted goal by Erik Romero.

Both teams played great defense in the second period which sent the match to overtime.

In the 99th minute ETBU forward Juan Olua scored the golden goal securing the win on an assist by Casey Sowells.

Malcolm Framjee recorded 8 saves for HPU and played the entire game in goal.

Howard Payne will take on visiting LeTourneau University at home tommorrow.
