BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne Lady Jacket volleyball team defeated both opponents on day two of the Oglethorpe Tournament and start their season 3-1 overall.

The first game of the day was versus Agnes Scott College which the Lady Jackets were able to put away 3-0 (30-24,30-23,30-22).

Sydney Bryant led HPU in kills with 11 and 10 digs. Megan Pick and Jane Mattingly both had 9 kills. Trish Brown had 30 assists, and 11 digs. Missy Dennis finished with 14 digs, and 5 aces.

In the last match of the tournament for the Lady Jackets, Dominican University(IL) pushed HPU to the distance. The Lady Jacket prevailed with a 3-2 victory (30-25,30-19,26-30,17-30,15-9).

Sydney Bryant led with 23 Kills, 23 digs, and 3 blocks. Megan Pick had 14 Kills, 14 digs, and 3 blocks. Trish Brown dished out 44 Assists, 14 digs, and 3 blocks. Jessica Hutton finished with 14 digs, 2 aces. Missy Dennis had 24 digs, and 2 aces while Aja Brunner had 8 blocks.

The Lady Jackets will be back in action next at home on September 13 versus Hardin-Simmons. It will be a 7:00 p.m. start.
