BROWNWOOD, Texas – The 3rd ranked Howard Payne Lady Jackets routed American Southwest Conference East Division leader University of Texas Dallas 83-40 on TexasBank court Thursday evening.
The Lady Jackets use a 35-8 run in the first half to secure a sizable lead. HPU shot 64% from the field in the first half while holding UT Dallas to just 24%.
It was 11-7 HPU with 13:50 to play in the first when the Lady Jackets rolled off the 35-8 run to lead 46-16 at the half.
HPU extended their lead even more in the second and led by 49 points with 2:46 to play. Howard Payne went on to post the 83-40 victory.
The Lady Jackets improve to 10-0 overall and 6-0 in the ASC, while UTD fell to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in ASC action.
HPU was led by Meia Daniels with a game high 24 points and four steals. Center Stacey Blalock added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Freshman Katy Sarem had a career high 11 points. Sarah Jockers had her best game as a Lady Jacket with 16 points. Jockers was 8 of 8 from the field.
Lauren Hale was the only UTD player to score in double digits with 13 points. Rachel Addison added a game high 7 rebounds.
The Lady Jackets will play the University of Texas Tyler at home on Saturday. It will be a 1:00 PM start.
