BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne Lady Jacket basketball team extended their win streak to 11 games with an 88-59 win over the University of Texas Tyler Lady Patriots in the Brownwood Coliseum on Saturday.
The game was never in doubt as the Lady Jackets led the entire game. Howard Payne out-rebounded UT Tyler 28-19 in the first half and held a 45-20 halftime advantage.
The Lady Patriots made a small run of their own in the second to cut the HPU lead to 18, 62-44, with 8:15 to play. The Lady Jackets pulled away from there to secure the 88-59 win.
Meia Daniels finished with 19 points and 11 steals. Freshman Katy Sarem finished with a career high 18 points, she was 4 of 8 from behind the arc. Stacey Blalock and Kim Hoffman finished with 17 and 16 points respectively. Hope Hohertz added 11 points and a team high 7 rebounds.
UT Tyler was led by Kasey Buggs with a game high 23 points and 9 rebounds. Lindsey Eaton had 15 points and Becky Taylor had a game high 12 rebounds.
The Lady Jackets improve to 11-0 on the season and 7-0 in the ASC while UTT falls to 7-4 and 4-2 in ASC action.
The Lady Jackets will travel to Louisiana College on Thursday for a 5:30 PM game.
