HPU Gets Big Win Against Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jacket volleyball team defeated Schreiner University 3-1 (32-30,26-25,25-22,25-21) in American Southwest Conference action Tuesday evening.

After falling to Schreiner University earlier in the season 0-3 at home, the Lady Jackets felt they had something to prove to themselves.

Set one lasted the longest with Schreiner taking it 32-30. From there Howard Payne buckled down and won sets two and three 26-24 and 25-22.

After being down 15-18 to Schreiner in the fourth set the Lady Jackets went on a 10-3 run and close out the match with the 3-1 victory.

Tamika Heline and Megan Pick led HPU with 13 kills each. Heline added 18 digs and Amy Crouch led with 24 assists. Kristin Hammond had 27 digs.

Howard Payne improves to 14-11 overall and 7-9 in ASC play, while Schreiner falls to12-12 overall and 9-7 in ASC action.

The Lady Jackets will play next on friday at the University of Dallas Tri-match. They will play UDallas at noon and Southwestern Assemblies of God at 2:00 pm.
