Howard Payne Dispatches UT-Tyler In Three Games

SEGUIN, Texas - The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets cruised to a 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 American Southwest Conference victory over the University of Texas at Tyler in ASC Crossover action Friday at Texas Lutheran University.

The Lady Jackets with their 10th win of the season marks the first time since 2003 that Howard Payne has had double digits in wins.

"I am very proud of the way the team did in light of playing with a modified line-up," coach Ken Carver said. "Amanda Gutierrez went down in practice on Wednesday and we basically had one day to work with a completely different lineup moving Sydney into the middle and Trish to right side and setter."

Megan Pick connected for 12 kills in 24 attempts with just two errors (.417 attack percentage) and posted three block assists.

HPU hit .276 as a team and held UT-Tyler to a negative hitting percentage of -.029.

HPU's Patricia Brown had nine kills, 23 assists and nine digs. Sydney Bryant added 5 kills, and 2 service aces.

The Lady Jackets improve to 10-7 overall and 3-5 in ASC action, while UT-Tyler falls to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in ASC play.

Howard Payne continue action at the ASC Crossover on Saturday with two more matches.
