Ozarks Tops Jackets

CLARKSVILLE, Ark - The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets were outshot 6-16 by the University of the Ozarks and fell 2-5 in American Southwest Conference action Thursday afternoon.

The Jackets only managed three shots on goal scoring on two. Ozarks got off 13 shots on goal in the game.

Ozarks scored just 2 minutes into the start of the game. HPU's Shane Cazad answered back in the 22nd minute scoring on a Dennis Benitez assist. 1-1 at the half

Ozarks scored just seconds into the start of the second period again in the 65th minute to take a 3-1 lead. 

The Jackets' Shane Cazad struck again in the 77th minute on a Chris Martinez assist, 3-2 Ozarks, The Eagles shut the door and scored just 22 seconds later. Ozarks added another goal in the 83rd minute to secure the 5-2 win.

Francisco Medina played all 90 minutes in goal for the Jackets recording 8 saves.

Howard Payne falls to 4-3-2, 3-3-1 ASC, while Ozarks improves to 8-2-2, 3-2-1 ASC.

The Yellow Jackets will play next on Saturday at the University of Texas - Dallas at 3:00 pm.
