HPU's Brittany Zamora (#11) scored a game high 20 points against LeTourneau

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The 12th ranked Howard Payne Lady Jackets held visiting Letourneau University to just 19% shooting from the field to post a 72-36 win in the Brownwood Coliseum Saturday afternoon. 

Howard Payne led from the start and controlled the game with a 37-15 halftime advantage. The closest LeTourneau came to HPU on the night was within 1, 9-8 with 14:13 in the first half. HPU outscored LeTourneau from that point 28 to 7 to finish out the half. 

Brittany Zamora came off the bench for the Lady Jackets and scored 11 of her game high 20 points in the first half. LeTourneau did not shoot one free-throw in the first half. 

Second half was more of the same for HPU going on a 16-0 run midway through the second half to extend their lead to 35 points, 55-20 with 9 minutes to play in the game. The Lady Jackets cruised to the 72-36 victory. The win was the 37th straight for the Lady Jackets and the 28th straight in ASC play. 

HPU out-rebounded LeTourneau 52-37 and forced 26 turnovers. The Lady Jackets shot 37.3% from the field in the game. 

LeTourneau was led by Brittany Adams with 11 points. No other LeTourneau players were in double digits. 

Along with Brittany Zamora's game high 20 points and 3 steals, Katy Sarem added 13 points. Kelsey Miller grabbed a team high 7 rebounds and had 4 steals. Sarah Pfiester added 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. 

HPU improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in ASC action, while LeTourneau falls to 1-3, 0-1 in ASC play. 

The Lady Jackets will be in action next at home on Monday at 3:00 pm against East Texas Baptist University.
