Lady Jackets Tame ETBU

Tiffany Warner (#3) finished with 16 and Sarah Jockers (#50) finished with 18

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne Lady Jackets get career highs from Tiffany Warner and Sarah Jockers against East Texas Baptist University and clinch another win 70-46 Monday in the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Jackets held the Tigers to one point in the first nine minutes of the game. The Jacket's defense remained strong throughout the first half, forcing ETBU into 13 turnovers. ETBU tied to make a run in the last ten minutes of the half but Howard Payne's defense was resilient securing a 34-23 at the break.

The Lady Jackets started the second half on a 9-0 run and never looked back. Howard Payne's offense extended their lead to 24 points, 67-43, with four minutes remaining in the second half. They finished off the Tigers with a 70-46 victory.

Howard Payne's Tiffany Warner had an outstanding game on offense sinking 4-6 three pointers. Warner finished with a career high 16 points. Sarah Jockers dominated under the basket putting up a career high 18 points. Elaine Hobbs grabbed 10 rebounds and added 12 points for the Lady Jackets. Hope Hohertz dished out 8 assists.

On offense for ETBU Candy Vallo finished with 15 points and Satara Harrell added 13 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Jackets improve their record to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in ASC play. ETBU drops to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in ASC play.

The Howard Payne Lady Jackets will play their next game Thursday at 5:30 pm at the University of the Ozarks.
