Jackets Split With LC On Saturday To Take Series

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets clench the series against the Louisiana College Wildcats with a win of 21-11 on Saturday at Don Shepard Park.

 

The Yellow Jackets dropped game one of Saturday's double-header 10-4 to Louisiana College.

 

After a slow start on offense by both teams in game two, Howard Payne came out swinging in the 3rd and 4th inning, scoring 6 then 9, taking a large lead over the Wildcats 16-2. Louisiana College tried to answer with 5 runs in the top of the 5th and 3 in the 6th but it would not be enough to defeat the Jackets.

 

The Jackets were lead by senior Jose Sierra going 4-4 with 4 RBI's along with Jason Raez and Nick Loving adding 3 hits a piece.

 

Freshmen pitcher Chase LaPenna gets the win for the Jackets relieving starter Logan Nelson in the 3rd, while Trey Mayeux gets the loss for the Wildcats.

 

The Jackets will play next in Richardson against the University of Texas at Dallas on Friday, February 29th at 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
