ALPINE, Texas - The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets baseball team even their record with a 3-game sweep of Sul Ross State (19-6,9-8,13-7) this weekend American Southwest Conference action.
With the series win the Yellow Jackets improve their recond to 13-13 overall.
Adam Garcia picked up one of the wins for Howard Payne throwing 8.0 ininngs giving up 6 runs on 6 hits. Garcia walked 3 and stuckout 6.
Colby Rowley got a win on Saturday pitching 5.0 innings giving up 6 runs on 9 hits, walking 1 and striking out 5.
T.C. McShan got the second win on Saturday throwing 6.1 innings. McShan gave up only 2 runs on 6 hits and walked 1 while striking out 5.
Taylor Zambreski had the hot bat for the Jackets batting .643 in the series with 9 hits (1 single, 1 HR and 7 doubles). Cale Thompson batted .583 with 7 hits while Kyle Lloyd and Billy Ray Cruz also hit over .500 each for the series.
The Jackets will play next at home on Tuesday against the University of Dallas in non-conference action.
