140 Report For Start of 2007 Season

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University football program announced on Monday that 140 players reported for fall drills. This is the most players head coach Mike Redwine and staff has had report in their three seasons at Howard Payne.

The Yellow Jackets, who finished last season a disappointing 5-5, feel very positive about the new group of players and the season ahead.

"I am pleased with the balance of returners, freshman, and transfers we have this year" said Mike Redwine HPU head coach, "We look forward to a great season."

Howard Payne will open up the season at home in Gordon Wood Stadium versus Southern Nazarene University on September 1, it is a 7:00 p.m. kick-off. Southern Nazarene has never defeated the Jackets; HPU won last season's match-up in Bethany, OK, 7-0.
