Trinity Rallies Late To Beat Jackets

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Howard Payne baseball team dropped their tenth straight ballgame on Tuesday in an 8-14 non-conference loss to Trinity University.

 

The Jackets fell behind early giving up 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Howard Payne chipped away at the Trinity lead and tied the game up at 6-6 in the top of the 6th. Trinity pulled away from there scoring 6 more runs in the bottom of the 6th.

 

HPU second baseman Chris Pucci went 3 of 3 in the game with 2 RBI. Taylor Zambreski and Kyle Lloyd also added two hits each. Adam Garcia hit the only homerun for the Jackets

 

Logan Nelson got the loss for the Jackets. Howard Payne moves to 14-23 on the season while Trinity improves to 27-12 overall.

 

Howard Payne will close out the regular season at home this weekend versus the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday and Saturday at Don Shepard Park.
