Jackets Get First Loss Of The Year

LONGVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne Yellow Jacket soccer team drop their first game of the year in a 1-3 deceision to LeTourneau University in conference action Friday.

Howard Payne fell down early in the first half 2-0, on goals by McLaughlin and Iya of LeTourneau. HPU was outshot 12 to 4 in the first half.

Stoeckman added another goal for Letourneau in the second. The Jackets did get a goal in the 87th minute when Peter Garrard scored off of a Jacob Cummings corner kick.

All three of the LeTourneau goals were from headers.

Francisco Medina played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU recording 8 saves.

HPU falls to 3-1-1 overall and 2-1-0 in ASC play, while LeTourneau improves to 4-5-0, 2-1 in ASC action.

Howard Payne plays on Saturday against East Texas Baptist in Marshall, Texas.
