AUSTIN, Texas - The Howard Payne men's soccer team downed Concordia University Texas 3-1 in ASC action Saturday afternoon.

The Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead and never looked back. HPU got their first goal from Jaime Benitez in the 7th minute on a Malcolm Wentworth assist.

The second goal gave HPU the 2-0 halftime lead. It came from Cameron Jannati on an assist from Chris Thompson in the 39th minute. It was Jannati's first goal as a Jacket.

Concordia did score in the second on a penalty kick in the 85th minute.

HPU added another goal in the 89th minute from Malcolm Wentworth, assist was from Shane Cazad.

The Jackets improve to 5-4-0 overall and 4-2-0 ASC action, while Concordia falls to 3-4-2, 1-3-2 ASC play.

Howard Payne will play next at home on Friday and Saturday against thw University of the Ozarks and the University of Texas at Dallas.
