HPU Splits DH With Univ. Of Dallas

IRVING, Texas - The Howard Payne baseball team split a two-game series with the University of Dallas 2-14, 8-6 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Jackets did not fair well from the plate in game one as the UDallas pitching staff combined for a two-hitter outing. Howard Payne got one of their runs in the top of the fifth when Cale Thompson reached first on an error by the centerfielder scoring Garrett Isom.

Isom crossed home plate again in the top of the seventh with a sole homerun to give the Jackets their second run of the game. 

In game two was more the Jackets style of play with Evan Henson picking up the win and Dustin Climer recording the save. Climer was solid in relief, pitching two innings giving up just two hits, no runs and striking out five.

Five different Jackets recorded two hits in the game. Taylor Zambreski and Garrett Isom each had 2 RBI.

Howard Payne improves to 3-4 overall and University of Dallas stands at 5-3 on the year. 

The Jackets travel to Clinton, Miss for an ASC series with Mississippi College on Friday and Saturday.
