Jackets Drop Game One Of MC Series

CLINTON, MS - Mississippi College's Brett Hinson struck out 13 batters in seven innings to lead the Choctaws to an 8-3 win over visiting Howard Payne University Friday night at Frierson Field.

Willie Hood (1-1) took the loss for the Yellow Jackets allowing seven runs, six unearned, in 2 2/3 innings of work. Hinson gave up just four hits as he improved his record to 2-0 this season. 

NIck Loving recorded 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Jackets. Kyle Lloyd also has 2 hits in the game.

Bo Bell led the offensive attack for the MIssissippi College with two-run homeruns and a triple in five at bats. Bell's two-run blast in the third inning sparked a two-out rally scoring seven runs. 

The Jackets fall to 3-5 overall and MC improves to 3-3 on the year.

MC and HPU resume their series Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m. at Frierson Field.
