Jackets Get Big Win Over Wayland

Shane Cazad scored twice and also dished out two assists against Wayland

PLAINVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne men's soccer team got its biggest win of the season, 5-0, over Wayland Baptist University Friday afternoon.

HPU's Shane Cazad accounted for a big part of the Jackets offense with two goals and two assists. Cazad's goals came in the 19th and 47th minutes.  He also assisted on Dennis Benitez's goal in the 23rd minute and Malcolm Wentworth's goal in the 54th minute. 

Dennis Benitez added another goal in the 64th minute with an assist from Malcolm Wentworth. Francisco Medina and Nick Rayburn split time in goal for HPU recording four and one saves respectively.

The Jackets dominated Wayland out-shooting them 27 to 16 and committed 10 more fouls than Wayland.

Howard Payne improves to 1-1 on the season, while Wayland falls to 0-6 overall. The Jackets will travel to Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.
