Jackets Lose Close One To ENMU

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne men's soccer team almost pull of the upset of D2 Eastern New Mexico University losing 2-3 Saturday afternoon in non-conference.

HPU's Shane Cazad scored to first goal of the game in the 10th minute on an assist from Dennis Benitez.

A HPU player received a red card in the 19th minute and was forced to play a man down. ENMU took the lead scoring in the 26th and 36th minutes.

Ben Bishop tied it up 2-2 scoring an unassisted goal in the 53th minute. ENMU scored the winning goal in the 65th minute and held to defeat HPU 2-3.

Francisco Medina played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU grabbing 4 saves.

Howard Payne is now 1-2-0 on the year and ENMU is 4-1-0. HPU will be back in action next weekend on the road in American Southwest Conference action against Schreiner University and Texas Lutheran University.
