2010 ASC Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament Field Released

RICHARDSON, Texas –– Texas-Tyler posted a 9-2-1 mark in league play to win the regular season title and earn the right to host the 2010 American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament, to be held Nov. 5-7 at Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex in Tyler, Texas.

The entire six-team, single elimination event will be available for fans through live statistics, while Saturday and Sunday's games will also have live video and audio. All links can be found on UT Tyler's athletic website (http://www.uttylerpatriots.com/) and the conference's Tournament Central page (www.ASCsports.org).

Head coach Kenny Jones' Patriots (10-3-1) also earned a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed. UT Tyler will be serving as host of the ASC tournament for the second time in program history. The Patriots' first go-round came in 2008 when they claimed the league title. Mississippi College (12-4, 9-3 ASC) locked up the No. 2 seed and also earned a bye in the first round.

Two-time ASC champion Texas-Dallas (11-4-2, 8-2-2) will be the No. 3 seed, followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor (12-3-1, 9-3-1 ASC), which reached the title match last season. Howard Payne (12-4-1) and defending champion Hardin-Simmons (11-5) had identical 9-4 league marks but HPU earned the No. 5 seed and HSU took the sixth spot due to the conference's head-to-head tiebreaker.

Friday's first-round matchups include UMHB against HPU at 11 a.m., with the winner getting UT Tyler in Saturday's 11 a.m. semifinal. HSU and UTD will duel on Friday at 2 p.m., with the victor going against MC at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals. The championship game is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Returning All-Tournament selections are most valuable player Chris O'Brien, Isaiah Hicks and Logan Waters of Hardin-Simmons, and Kyle Dickey and Mark Miller of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

The ASC tournament winner earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship.
