Jackets Fall To UTD

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne men's soccer team was unable to hold an early lead and fell to the University of Dallas 1-2 in American Southwest Conference action Thursday evening in Richardson, Texas.

HPU's Luis Tamez scored on a streak down the left side of the field in the 20th minute. The pass came from Shane Cazad to give the Yellow Jackets the early 1-0 lead.

UTD scored just four minutes later when Brian Bienhoff followed up a rebound shot by Michael Darrow.

UTD added their final goal and game winner just seconds before the first half ended on an unassisted goal by Julian Torres from the top of the box.

Malcolm Framjee played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU recording 5 saves. UTD keeper Bailey Williams gained 3 saves in the game.

UTD outshot HPU 18-7 in the game and had 9 corner kicks to HPU's one.

Howard Payne now stands at 4-3-1 overall and 2-3-0 in ASC action. UTD is at 8-2-0 overall and 5-0-0 in ASC play.
HPU continues their road trip and will play the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR on Saturday.
