Volleyball Goes 1-3 At 2nd ASC Crossover

TYLER, Texas - The Howard Payne University volleyball went 1-3 at this weekend's American Southwest Conference "Dig Pink" Crossover Tournament. The Lady Jackets dropped matches to UT-Dallas. Mary Hardin-Baylor and UT-Tyler but picked up a win over LeTourneau University on day two of the crossover.

In game one on Friday, the Lady Jackets fell to the University of Texas - Dallas 1-3 (25-21,19-25,25-19,25-22). Tamika Heline led with 25 kills and a .364 attack pct. She also added 15 digs. Kristin Hammond had 23 digs and Jessica Guerra had 42 assists.

Game two on the day had Howard Payne losing to Mary Hardin-Baylor 0-3 (27-25,25-16,25-22). Heline again led with 15 kills followed by Sarah Bishop with 11. Rhyne Acuff also had a solid match with 10 kills and five total blocks.

HPU picked up a 3-0 win over LeTourneau on Saturday (25-18,25-14,25-16). Heline had 11 kills with Hannah Hicks and Bishop with nine kills each. Guerra added 33 assists.

The Lady Jackets lost their last math of the crossover to host University of Texas at Tyler 3-0.

Howard Payne is now 8-13 overall and 4-8 in conference play. HPU will play next at McMurry on Tuesday before coming home to play Schreiner on Thursday.
