Lady Jackets Defeat UT-Tyler

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University women's basketball team scored 50 second half points to down the University of Texas at Tyler 85-69 Saturday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.

With UT-Tyler leading 36-35 at the half, the Lady Jackets shot 52% in the second half to open up the game and secure the 85-69 win.

Howard Payne improves to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in conference, while UT-Tyler falls to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in ASC play.
UT-Tyler held an eight point lead with 8:23 left in the first half. The Lady Jacket defense tightens up and the score was 36-35 UT-Tyler at the half.

Scoring 50 points on 52% shooting in the second half, Howard Payne opened the game up and captured the 85-69 win. The Lady Jackets largest lead was 22 with 2:49 to play in the game.

Jasmin Thomas led HPU with a game high 19 points and five assists. Roshonda Gayden added 16 points, six rebounds and three steals. Brittany Roberson followed with 15 points and four assists.

Lindsey Hausmann led UT-Tyler with 19 points. Afritina Anderson had 14 points and seven rebounds. She'Cara Humphrey added 12 and Melissa Thomas had 11.

Howard Payne will play at home on Monday against LeTourneau University at 5:30 pm.
