Jackets Lose Early Lead On UT-Tyler

TYLER, Texas - Despite a 2-0 lead 20 minutes into the match, the Howard Payne University men's soccer team falls on the road to the University of Texas Tyler 2-3 after three second period goals.

The Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard early when Jaime Benitez found the back of the net in the 8th minute.

Just twelve minutes later, ASC goals leader Shane Cazad netted his ninth of the year to give Howard Payne the 2-0 advantage.

UT-Tyler got back in the game when they scored goals in the 67th and 70th minutes.

Jake Urbaniak scored the game winner for UT-Tyler in the 79th minute on an assist from Victor Almendariz.

Kyle Huesing played all 90 minutes in goal for the Yellow Jackets recording 10 saves.

HPU is now 3-3 overall and 1-2 in ASC action while UT-Tyler stands at 6-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

The Jackets will be in action next Friday at home versus the University of Texas - Dallas.
