VB Drops Fifth Set Heartbreaker To Schreiner

BROWNWOOD, Texas - After finding themselves down two sets to none the Howard Payne volleyball team rallied to force a fifth set but went on to lose in the final frame and the match 3-2 (25-16,25-23,21-25,22-25,15-11) to conference opponent Schreiner University Thursday evening.

The Lady Jackets dropped the first two sets 25-16 and 25-23. HPU then started to click taking the next two sets 25-21 and 25-22 to force a fifth set.

Schreiner would gain an early lead behind a .304 attack pct in the fifth and went on the win the set 15-11 and the match 3-2.

Hannah Hicks led HPU with 12 kills and five blocks. Sarah Bishop had 10 kills and Shelby Bridges added 21 digs.

Howard Payne is now 9-15 overall and 4-10 in conference. Schreiner stands at 9-11 overall and 5-6 in ASC play. The Lady Jackets will play next on October 23rd at home versus Texas Lutheran University at 6:00 pm.
