Lady Jackets Fall In Five To TLU

BROWNWOOD, Texas - After taking the first two sets from Texas Lutheran, the Howard Payne volleyball was not able to secure any of the final three sets and fell 3-2 (22-25,23-25,25-22,25-18,15-12) in conference action Tuesday evening.

The Lady Jackets won the first set 25-22 and held a seven point advantage in the second midway through. TLU rallied to make it close but HPU held on to win the set 25-23.

TLU won the third and fourth sets 25-22 and 25-18 to force a fifth set. HPU held an early 5-1 lead in the fifth but TLU went on to win the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.

Hannah Hicks led HPU with 16 kills and five total blocks. Shelby Bridges finished with a career high 42 digs. Sarah Bishop and Sarah Davies each 10 and 9 kills respectively.

Howard Payne is now 9-16 overall and 4-11 in conference play. Texas Lutheran stands at 15-11 overall and 12-4 in conference. Howard Payne will finish the regular season on Friday at home versus Sul Ross State at 5:00 pm. The seniors will be recognized at the game.
