Lady Jackets Lose 3-1 To HSU

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team pushed the American Southwest Conference West Division leader Hardin-Simmons to four sets but fell 3-1 (23-25,25-19,25-17,25-17) Tuesday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Jackets started strong taking the first set 25-23. Even though HPU would drop the next three sets 25-19, 25-17 and 25-17, the Lady Jackets remained close with the West Division leader in the final three sets.

Sarah Bishop led HPU in kills with 11 and two blocks. Hannah Hicks followed with nine kills and a team high seven blocks. Carlee Ammons and Darah Davies each added five kills.

Allyson Reed had 14 assists and Taylor Jordan had 17 digs.

Howard Payne is now 9-14 overall and 4-9 in conference play. Hardin-Simmons improves to 18-3 overall and 12-0 in ASC action. The Lady Jackets will play host to Schreiner University on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
