BROWNWOOD, Texas – Britani Gattis scores a team high 17 points to lead the Howard Payne Lady Jackets to a 68-56 home win over the University of Texas – Tyler in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Jackets committed 25 turnovers in the game but were still able to hold off UT-Tyler. The Lady Jackets shot 21 more free-throws that UT-Tyler as HPU hit 30 of 36 from the line. UT-Tyler was 9 of 15 from the free-throw line.

Holding a 38-25 halftime lead, the Lady Jackets pushed their lead to as much as 16 in the second half. UT-Tyler rallied late to cut the game to seven, 59-52 with 2:50 remaining. Solid throw shooting would secure the game for HPU down the stretch 68-56.

Britani Gattis led HPU with 17 points and seven rebounds. She was 3 of 5 from behind the arc and 6 of 8 from the line. Tresta Donahoo followed with 15 points with four assists. She was 6 of 7 from the line.

Morgan Marriott played solid off the bench with five points, six rebounds and five blocks. Dana Marrs added 11 points and six rebounds.

She'Cara Humphrey led UTT with a game high 19 points with eight rebounds.

The Lady Jackets are now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. UT-Tyler stands at 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the ASC. Howard Payne will play again next Thursday at home versus conference opponent Mississippi College at 5:30 pm.
