Jackets Fall To LC In Series Opener

PINEVILLE, Louisiana - The Howard Payne University baseball team gave up 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to fall to Louisinana College 15-5 to open their three-game series Friday evening.

Louisinana College scored one in the second and three in the fourth to gain a 4-0 lead. It was their 10-run sixth that put the game out of reach for Howard Payne. The Jackets would score two in the seventh and three in the nineth to complete their scoring.

Corey Howie got the loss for HPU throwing five innings giving up four runs on 10 hits and striking out four. Reed Klose, Dustin Kelver and Mitchell Marquis also saw time on the mound in relief.

Howard Payne is now 1-3 overall and will play a double header with LC on Saturday to complete the weekend series.
