Jackets Defeat Sul Ross State 8-4

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Howard Payne University uses a five-run sixth to gain a 8-4 American Southwest Conference victory over Sul Ross State University Friday at Don Shepard Park.

With the win, Howard Payne 12-20 overall and 5-11 ASC West Division play. Sul Ross State falls to 7-27 overall and 3-13 in conference.

The HPU Yellow Jackets scored four of their five runs in the sixth with two outs. Corey Howie got the win for the Jackets throwing 8.0 innings of work, he gave up four runs on nine hits and struckout six.

The two teams will play a conference double header tomorrow starting at 1:00 pm. The Yellow Jacket seniors will be honored between games.
