Jackets Lose 4-3 To UDallas

IRVING, Texas - The Howard Payne University baseball team out hits their opponent 12 to 9 but falls 4-3 in non-conference action to the University of Dallas Wednesday evening.

Howard Payne found themselves down 3-0 after five innings but posted a two-run sixth to pull withing one, 3-2. Cole bunt single and error by the UDallas pitcher would score Kris Kloc and then a Ryan Abbott sacrifice fly to center field scored Alan Sailors from third. UDallas added another run in the bottom of the inning.

The Jackets scored another run in the top of the eighth when Abbott grounded out to second base scoring Jake Sadler. That would be the Jackets best opportunity to take the lead in the game stranding two runners after Sadler scored.

Ben Butler got the loss for HPU giving up two run on four hits in 4.0 innings of work. Mitchell Marquis and Carlton Brown saw time in relief. Brown recorded four strikeouts.

Howard Payne is now 14-20 overall. The Yellow Jackets will finish out the regular season this weekend with a conference series at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
