Lady Jackets Record Road Win Over Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, AR – The Howard Payne women's basketball team forced 19 turnovers on their way to a 65-56 conference win over the University of the Ozarks Thursday evening.

Howard Payne outscored Ozarks 40-14 in the paint and scored 29 points off of 19 Ozarks turnovers. The Lady Jackets also had 16 fast break points while allowing none.

HPU started the game with a 9-0 run but Ozarks would battle back and tie the game at the half 28-28. The Lady Jackets were 1 of 5 from the free-throw line in the period but neither team shot the ball well in the opening half.

A 10-0 run by HPU in the second half was capped by a Tresta Donahoo three-pointer with 15:51 left to make the game 42-33 Lady Jackets. HPU would led by as much as 13 with minutes to play and eventually secured the victory 65-56.

This week's ASC West Division Player of the Week, Tresta Donahoo led HPU with 20 points, five rebounds, eight assists and four steals. Dana Marrs added 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting with four steals. Britani Gattis followed with 10 points.

Ozarks was led by Taylor Farmer with 21 points and Kindra Davis added 14 points and nine rebounds.

Howard Payne is now 10-2 overall and 5-1 in ASC action. Ozarks falls to 5-7 overall and 2-5 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play at the University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
