Jackets Fall In Season Finale

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne men's soccer team matched American Southwest Conference leader Hardin-Simmons in shots on goal but fell 3-0 in their season finale Thursday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Soccer Field.

Hardin-Simmons held just a slight lead in shots on goal 9-7 but outshot the Yellow Jackets 23-9 overall in the match. 

The Cowboys would hold a 2-0 halftime advantage after scoring in the 30th and 44th minutes. They added another goal in the 81st minute to round out their scoring in the game.

Shay Pate recorded four shots for the Jackets, three on goal. Senior Ryan Young got the loss in goal for HPU playing all 90 minutes and recording five saves.

Howard Payne finishes the season at 1-17-0 overall and Hardin-Simmons is at 8-3-5 overall. Seniors Jeremy Perkins, Eric Young, Ryan Young and Alejandro Guerrero were recognized before the match.
