Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – The second half push by Howard Payne come up short as the Lady Jackets fell 66-62 to conference opponent University of Texas at Dallas Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Down fifteen points midway through the second half, the Lady Jackets begin to chip away at the lead outscoring the Comets 16-4 over the next six minutes.

Two free-throws by HPU's Britina Gattis with 3:58 to play would bring the Lady Jackets to within three, 57-54. Gattis finished with eight points and ten rebounds on the night.

After UT-Dallas quickly pushed their lead back to seven but timely three-point shooting by Danyel Bradley and McKinley Meyer would again bring the Lady Jackets to within three, 65-62 with :31 seconds to play. Meyer and Bradley led the Lady Jackets with 17 and 15 points respectively. Meyer also added ten rebounds.

UTD would then get fouled and Madi Hess hit one of two free-throws for a four point, 66-62 lead with :11 seconds remaining. The Lady Jacket three-point attempt was off the mark and UT-Dallas secured the win 66-62,

Shooting 54% from the field in the first and 47% for the game, the Comets held a 33-22 halftime advantage. The Lady Jackets did force 12 first half turnovers and 17 for the game while only committing 12.

HPU's Shardena Hudson finished with a game high five assists.

UT-Dallas was led by Morgan Kilgore with a game high 31 points along with 10 rebounds. No other Comet players were in double digits.

Howard Payne is now 1-1 overall and 1-1 in conference action. UTD stands at 2-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will play next on Tuesday, November 26th versus Sul Ross State University at 5:30 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum.
