McKinley Meyer scored a team high 16 points off the bench for the Lady Jackets

Box Score KERRVILLE, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team would hold off a late charge by Schreiner University to post a 64-61 victory Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Howard Payne used 51% first half shooting to lead 42-26 at the break. The Lady Jackets were 6 of 10 from behind the arc in the first half.

A 17-2 run by Schreiner late in the second half would pull them to within two points with under a minute remaining. The Lady Jackets hit free-throws down the stretch to secure the 64-61 victory.

McKinley Meyer led the Lady Jackets with 16 points off the bench. Meyer also added six rebounds. Danyel Bradley followed with 15 points. Shardena Hudson dished out a game high five assists with four steals. Britani Gattis had 12 and passed 500 career points. Yessenia Cazares added 11 points.

Schreiner was led by Lindsey Peterson with a game high 23 points. Olivia Lott followed with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Jackets are now 3-1 overall on the year and Schreiner stands at 2-3 overall. Howard Payne will play next on Thursday, December 5th versus Concordia University Texas in Austin, Texas at 5:30 pm.
