Lady Jackets Defeat UMHB 81-66

Box Score BELTON, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball used a 49 point second half to secure an 81-66 conference victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday evening at the Mayborn Campus Center.

With both teams shooting under 40% from the field in the first half, they would be knotted up at 32-32 at the halftime break.

The Lady Jackets picked up their defensive pressure in the second and opened up a large lead minutes into the half. HPU would have their largest lead of the game with 2:22 remaining in the game, 77-59 on a Jessenia Cazares jumper.

Danyel Bradley led HPU with 27 points and ten rebounds. She also had five assists and four steals. Sarah Van Remmen followed with 13 points. Kalin Hanna had a game high five blocks.

UMHB was led by Taylor Tucker with a game high 28 points and 11 rebounds. Jovana Miles added 12 points.

Howard Payne is now 5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference, UMHB falls to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will be back in action next Saturday at Hardin-Simmons University starting at 5:30 pm.
