Jackets Lose Season Finale

AUSTIN, Texas –  The Howard Payne men's basketball team could not overcome a 21-0 start by Concordia University Texas and fall 113-87 to end the regular season.

Concordia started the game with a 21-0 run and hit 11 three-point buckets to gain a 66-45 halftime lead. The Yellow Jackets did shoot 47% from the field but CTX connected on 58% of their shots.

HPU shot 52% from the field in the second but could not keep up with CTX's 54% from the floor and 52% shooting from behind the arc for the game.

The Jackets did outrebound Concordia 45-35 but turned the ball over 26 times.

HPU was led by senior Michael Thompson 17 points and 13 rebounds. Bryan Adams added 16 points and Ross Whittet and Donovan Ford each had 15 points. Brandon Gould followed 10 points.

Concordia was led by Qwayne Patterson with 29 points. Terry Corprew had 17. Nick Haynes and Larry Durand each added 14 points.

Howard Payne finishes the season at 8-17 overall and 6-13 in conference, CTX stands at 20-5 overall and 15-4 in conference.
