GEORGETOWN, Texas – Howard Payne's Carlton Brown went 3-for-5 from the plate and recorded the win on the mound to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 7-5 victory over Southwestern University Tuesday evening.

HPU's Carlton Brown hit two doubles and a triple to lead the Jackets at the plate. Brown then threw three innings in relief and recorded the win.

The game was all tied up a 5-5 after nine innings when the Jackets scored two runs in the tenth to secure the 7-5 non-conference win. A Conner Roberts single to center field scored Dillon McDudle and Brown to give the Jackets a two-run lead in the top of the tenth.

Roberts was 2-for-2 from the plate after coming in for Jake Sadler in the eighth. Starter Reed Klose went 4.2 innings giving up three runs on five hits and striking out five.

Howard Payne is now 13-10 overall and Southwestern falls to 2-20 overall. The Jackets will have a home conference series with Mary Hardin-Baylor this weekend at Don Shepard Park in Brownwood.
