FOREST GROVE, Oregon - Two goals by forward Shay Pate would not be enough as the Howard Payne men's soccer team fell 3-2 to Pacific University to finish out the Yellow Jackets trip to the pacific northwest.

After going down 2-0 early in the first period, Shay Pate would get the Jackets started with an unassisted goal in the 28th minute inside the box.

Pacific added another score in the 67 minute but Pate would answer just three minutes later. Pate headed in a corner kick from Kevin Ruiz in the 72th minute to bring the Jackets to within one, 3-2.

Goal keeper Allan Chedadi gained the loss playing all 90 minutes for HPU recording two saves.

Howard Payne now stands at 0-3 overall and Pacific is 2-0 overall. HPU will play next on Septmeber 8th at 5:00 pm in their home opener versus Schreiner University.
