Volleyball Picks Up Two Wins

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RICHARDSON, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team defeated LeTourneau University 3-2 and Mississippi College 3-1 on day one of the American Southwest Conference pod tournament at the University of Texas at Dallas Friday afternoon.

After dropping the first two sets 18-25 and 24-26 to LeTourneau, the Lady Jackets rallied to claim the last three sets 25-20, 25-15 and 15-6. Sarah Bishop had an amazing match recording 20 kills, 12 digs and three service aces. Hannah Hicks and Taylor Jordan each added nine kills. Allison Eaton had 33 assists and Shelby Bridges had 22 digs.

In the Lady Jackets second match, Howard Payne downed Mississippi College 3-1 (26-24,21-25,25-23,25-19). Bishop again led HPU with 11 kills followed by Jordan with 10 kills and 16 digs. Allyson Adams and Allison Eaton had 23 and 21 assists respectively. Bridges finished with 20 digs and three service aces.

Howard Payne is now 9-2 overall and 2-0 in conference action. The Lady Jackets will play the University of Texas at Tyler and East Texas Baptist University on Saturday to finish out the pod tournament.
