VB Continues Winning Ways At ASC Pod

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ALPINE, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team extended their record to 12-5 overall going 2-1 at this weekend's American Southwest Conference pod tournament hosted by Sul Ross State.

Howard Payne would fall in straight set 3-0 to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday but rebounded taking matches from Concordia Texas 3-2 and Sul Ross State 3-1 on Saturday.

Falling to UMHB 12-25, 19-25, and 12-25, the Lady Jackets were led by Sarah Bishop in the match with seven kills. Shelby Bridges added 14 digs.

On Saturday, Howard Payne took Concordia Texas to the limit winning 3-2 (25-21,17-25,27-25,15-25,15-7). Bishop led all with 13 kills along with 12 digs. Bridges had 32 digs and Allison Eaton finished with 34 assists.

In the second game, HPU defeated host Sul Ross State 3-1 (25-15,15-25,25-13,25-22). Bishop had 15 kills and 24 digs. Allyson Adams added 22 assists and Margje Damstra had five total blocks.

Howard Payne is now 12-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will play next on Tuesday at home versus Huston-Tillotson at 7:00 pm
